FAQs

At what age can my student start attending?
  • We work with students aged four and up who are able to focus for 10-15 minutes.
How many times a week will my student come to the center and for how long is each visit?
  • Most students attend twice a week for center visits and complete Gideon assignments at home the other days. However, you can come once a week or request extra classes for an additional fee.
  • Each center visit is typically 30 minutes per subject to do individual daily assignments, complete any old corrections, and review new material. A Gideon instructor will be at the table with the students to assist as needed. Most students will be seated with a 3:1 student to teacher ratio.
What level of work will my student be doing?
  • During the free placement evaluation, we will find a ‘just right’ point in the Gideon curriculum based on what skills your student shows as mastered in order to fill any holes and gaps in his foundation. Read more about the importance of mastering lower levels HERE. Download a full curriculum listing HERE.
  • Our goal is to build confidence through mastery with progress right from the start to encourage focus and concentration.
Does Gideon work with students with learning differences such as dyslexia?
  • Yes, the Gideon program works well for most students, including those with learning differences. While school must continue on its schedule, we have the luxury of time to allow the student to set the pace and do any extra practice needed to truly master each level. If your student has dyslexia, read THIS to find out why Gideon is a good solution.
Does Gideon work with students with special needs such as autism?
  • Yes, the Gideon program works with many special needs students. We can evaluate further if Gideon is a good fit when we meet your student during the free placement evaluation.
How do we get the MOST out of Gideon?
  • Simply doing the daily work consistently will result in great progress, but review these tips for parents HERE.

This place has been amazing for my grandson, he has ADHD and they have helped him become more confident in his math and reading. They truly care about not just how he is doing in school but in general. Awesome to see a place truly care. It takes a village and so glad you are a part of ours!
We could not be more happy with our decision to put our son in Gideon. Mrs Dixita and all the staff have always been so understanding and patient with our son who gets easily frustrated with work. In just the last 4 months we have been here he is obtaining the knowledge that is needed at his grade! Without Gideon there is not a doubt he would be where he is today, yall are awesome!!
When our daughter expressed interest in learning to read, we tried our best to teach her but knew she needed more personalized learning. When we met with Mrs. Dixita we felt her compassion to help our child succeed. She understands a child's natural development and does not strive for unattainable goals that can often make a child feel discouraged or hopeless. There is a curriculum in place and each session builds on the next. It sets a great foundation for us as well because we solidify these materials at home. She works with each child individually to meet them right where they are. Right now she is ahead of her age but I know Mrs. Dixita and her team will also be there to help pick her up if she should fall behind. We are grateful for the care they give!
The owner of Gideon dixita is amazing. My son is very behind the rest of his peers and she has made sure he masters his booklets and just doesn’t push him through. He has learned so much since joining and I can not wait to watch him grow even more. If you child is struggling I wouldn’t hesitate to join, the people here truly care about the kids and do everything in their power to help them succeed.

Is homework a difficult experience at night? Would you like help in building your child’s skills in reading, math, or language arts ? The New Gideon Math and Reading Center of Fort Worth focuses on the repetition of skills and patterns seen in reading and math content. The program also addresses skills needed in word problems, reading comprehension, writing standards, and grammar practices. With repetition students create patterns in their cognitive learning that lead to successful learning. Lessons include paper and pencil materials. A learner will not be able to move to the next level without showing mastery of the present level. Starting at the lower elementary grades allows the student to develop new needed skills or helps reinforce content introduced in the classroom. When our 4th and 5th graders have not mastered their addition, subtraction, or multiplication facts; completing long division problems become the first of many roadblocks unfortunately in their math career. Sometimes children who have loved reading or math develop a distaste for the content because they are not confident and proficient in their skills. The educators of The Gideon Centers help students make connections with positive feedback and persistence. As a classroom teacher I can see the value in the strategies used. Sometimes in the real-life classroom there is not always the opportunity in school or at home to master the basic skills without some extra intervention. Instructors work on building confidence and a love for learning as students master needed skills in reading, math, punctuation, and grammar. Sessions are productive and time sensitive to the many daily commitments families have these days. Tutoring begins after school and on Saturdays for your convenience. Let us help you set up our children for success and create confident learners.
